United Electric Announces New Product: One Series

A major gas transmission company headquartered in Charleston, WV involved with compressor station upgrade and modernization projects chose the One Series for its alarm and shutdown functions, measuring natural gas pressure on reciprocating gas compressors.

Application:
The One Series is used to control the reciprocating engines that drive the compressors by monitoring natural gas discharge pressures. The set point is 1,000 psi on rising pressure providing a high limit shutdown.

Just 2 months after installation, one of the 8 engines was shutdown. Upon inspection of the pressure extreme value inside the One Seris, it was learned that the switch did exactly what it was designed to do! It provided an emergency shut down (ESD) for the engine and compressor at 1,000 psi, protecting the facility, the equipment and the lives of the people that were working there at the time. Before installing the One Series, the operators were unaware that the pressure momentrarily reached the 1,000 pound extreme. By capturing process extremes, the One Series can be used as a diagnostic tool for troubleshooting purposes.
